Fall is the season where getting dressed actually becomes exciting again. Cooler air, changing leaves, and lower temperatures make you want to dig through your wardrobe and refresh your look. Fall has always been my favorite season for clothes, and if you’re looking to put together stylish fall outfits without trying too hard, you have come to the right place.
Below are ten of my favorite go-to outfits that I know will help you leave your house feeling confident, stylish, and cozy all fall long.

Reasons Why Fall Outfits Are The Best
First off, let me explain to you why fall outfits are by far my favorite. Summer dressing doesn’t allow you many options — it’s either a swimsuit, shorts, and a tank top, or jeans and a sweater you’ll be sweating through in minutes. Fall lets you play around with layers, textures, and oversized pieces, mix higher-end pieces with more casual ones, and actually wear accessories that are functional — like scarves, gloves, and more.
My Favorite Fall Colors Are Also Neutral
Another thing I love about fall is that most of my favorite colors to wear are neutral. Rust, camel, burgundy, forest green, chocolate brown — these colors look good on everyone. And when you start curating your wardrobe around neutral colors, building outfits becomes much easier.
Things to Remember When Building Fall Outfits
Here are a couple of things I keep in mind when I shop for clothes that will become my fall go-tos:
- Invest in fewer pieces of higher quality — you will wear them longer and they will look better on you. A pair of well-fitting straight-leg jeans will take you far, as will classic trench coats, neutral-colored knit sweaters, and boots. You will get more wear out of one good pair of jeans than you will out of five pairs from a fast-fashion brand.
- Not every outfit needs to be expensive or entirely high-end to look chic. In fact, pairing more casual pieces with higher-end pieces is what gives you that effortlessly cool vibe.
- Fit over brand. Always. No sweater in the world will look good on you if it doesn’t fit well, but if it does fit well, you can make it work with the right accessories and other pieces you already own.
Now Onto The Outfits!
1. The Classic Dark Wash Jeans And Trench Coat Combination
Perhaps one of my all-time favorite fall outfits — it requires little to no thought but looks so polished when you put it together. All you need is a pair of dark wash jeans, a white or cream t-shirt (I like to tuck mine in at the front), a camel or beige trench coat, and a pair of white sneakers or loafers. Throw everything on and you’re ready to go!

2. The Chunky Knit Sweater With Leather-Look Pants
This combination is my go-to for date nights or when I want to feel extra cute. Grab an oversized chunky knit sweater in a neutral color — cream, oatmeal, or gray — and pair it with leather-look trousers in black or brown. Throw on some ankle boots with a small block heel to finish the look. The juxtaposition of oversized on top with a slim-cut silhouette underneath is what makes this outfit work.
3. The Ribbed Turtleneck, Midi Skirt, And Knee-High Boot Combo
This is such a cute fall outfit, and it photographs really well too. Pair a fitted ribbed turtleneck with a flowy midi skirt — I love this look in warm tones, so maybe a rust or mustard skirt with a chocolate brown turtleneck. Throw on some knee-high boots that are flat or have a small kitten heel. Pair with minimal jewelry and you’re ready to go!
4. Monochrome Browns
I love doing a monochromatic look every now and then, and when done in shades of brown it can look really sophisticated. Camel trousers, a dark brown knit top, and tan boots. Mix up the textures — some smooth, some knit, some leather. It looks intentional but is easy to throw together.
5. Oversized Blazer With Straight Jeans
Another favorite that I love to wear all the time. Throw an oversized plaid, checked, or camel blazer over a simple graphic tee, pair with straight-leg jeans and white sneakers or chunky loafers. Roll up the sleeves on your blazer a bit and leave it open.
6. Slip Dress With A Long-Sleeve Top Underneath
If you own a silk or satin slip dress that you wore all summer long, don’t pack it away just yet! Slip dresses can still be worn in the fall when layered correctly. Try slipping your dress over a fitted long-sleeve top in a similar color. A black slip dress over a dark burgundy or forest green long-sleeve top looks really nice. Throw on some ankle boots and a small shoulder bag.

7. Wide-Leg Pants With A Cropped Knit And Heeled Mules
Wide-leg pants are one of my favorite silhouettes for fall. Pair them with a cropped knit sweater and heeled mules. I recommend doing this outfit in warmer tones — deep plum, rust, and camel are great color options for wide-leg trousers. Keep your top simple. The mules add elevation to an otherwise very relaxed look.
8. Shacket Outfit With Skinny Jeans
A shacket — shirt plus jacket equals shacket — is probably one of the most versatile fall wardrobe additions you can buy. Throw it over a fitted turtleneck and pair with skinny jeans or slim-fit trousers and Chelsea boots. The shacket adds texture and visual interest to an outfit without being overwhelming. It also works really well for dressing in unpredictable weather.
9. Floor-Sweeping Coat With A Basic Outfit
Invest in a statement coat that you can throw over any outfit to make it look instantly chic. Pair your favorite jeans and a basic sweater with a deep red, forest green, or camel floor-sweeping coat. The coat becomes the outfit. Wear minimal accessories so your coat can remain the center of attention.
10. Knit Set Outfit With A Structured Bag And Elevated Footwear
Let’s talk about one of my favorite fall trends that has made a comeback — knit sets. Pair a cozy knit set — think an oversized knit sweater top with matching wide-leg trousers or a skirt — with a structured leather bag and either loafers or heeled boots. The structured bag and elevated footwear pair so nicely with something as relaxed and soft as a knit set, and the contrast is what pulls the whole look together.

Want More Tips On How To Easily Put Together Fall Outfits?
Fall wardrobes don’t have to be overwhelming. Learning how to style the clothes you already own and understanding basic color matching goes a long way. Not every outfit needs to be loud or filled with trendy pieces you’ll never wear again after one season. Stick with neutrals that you know look good on you and build your outfits around those.
Final Thoughts
I hope these ten easy fall outfits gave you some inspiration for your weekday mornings or weekend outings. Each of these outfits can be dressed up or down, and most of them you probably already own everything needed to recreate. Swap out pieces for similar colors if you don’t own the exact thing I mentioned. Try to have fun with it, and remember — wear things that make you feel good!
